Dear Friends:
Since the culmination of the Red Envelope Project on March 31, 2009, much has happened to me and to our nation. The Red Envelope movement resulted in 3.5 million empty red envelopes being sent to the White House, historic levels of unity among the pro-life organizations, and red envelope movements in Canada, Europe, and the Philippines. This was the first of the grassroots movements to emerge in 2009, and the largest mail protest to hit the White House since Vietnam. It was also completely ignored by the media, even though members of Congress were aware of it, and the Washington Post chose not to report it.
Over the past few months the tone of national conversation has become increasingly negative. The tone of the healthcare debate is a sign that the current government is deeply committed to its agenda at any cost. Members of congress have chosen to ignore their constituents. The main stream media has chosen to ignore truth or evidence.
Because of these issues, I am asking that the Red Envelope Project in any form not continue. I have sensed that this was a clear direction from the Lord given to me in the spring. I also sense that our energies must be channelled into united efforts like Stop The Abortion Mandate and to concerted prayer.
The Red Envelope Project was an important symbolic movement, and it served its purpose. Please continue to pray, and continue to listen to God for smart ideas. We can and we will win this war for the sake of life, and for the sake of freedom.
Warmly,
Christ Otto
